The mission of the Oakdale Fire Department is to promptly and professionally serve the needs of the community with pride, dedication and excellence while never failing to deliver quality emergency life safety services. The Department is a full service organization providing fire, emergency medical and ambulance transport, hazardous materials response, technical rescue operations, and fire prevention and educational services to the community. The Oakdale Fire Department is an "all-risk" department, meaning we will respond to the needs of the community, regardless of the nature of the incident. Our dedicated members work to ensure the safety of the community and maintain a citywide presence to effectively respond to all emergencies and non-emergencies.
The full-time Fire and EMS staff provide 24-hour coverage and operate out of two stations, the headquarters at 5000 Hadley Avenue N. and a second station at 6633 15th Street N. Fire and EMS staff respond to over 3,200 calls a year.

Ambulance and EMS Service
Ambulance service is provided by the Oakdale Fire Department is an emergency service and staffed by firefighters. Depending on the situation, persons can be transported to any hospital; however, in certain instances, the ambulance is required by its medical director to transport patients with specific illnesses or injuries to certain hospitals that are equipped to deal with those specific illnesses or injuries. Whenever possible, the ambulance will transport to the patient's hospital of choice, provided such hospital is located in Saint Paul or in the east metro area. It is important to minimize the amount of time the ambulance and firefighters are out of the City and unavailable for responding to other emergency calls.
Any time the ambulance responds and has patient contact, there is a charge for the service provided.
A bill for ambulance service will be sent from the city's billing agent, Life Quest. In some cases, the bill may be covered by insurance.
