Construction continues on this year’s street improvement project. The contractor has split the project into smaller areas for coordination and scheduling: - Area 1: The Shenandoah neighborhood located east of I-694 and north of 50th Street. View area 1 map.
- Area 2: The commercial industrial areas east and west of I-694, north of 4th Street and south of 10th Street. View area 2 map.
- Area 3: The Oakdale Park trail from Hadley Avenue to the Discovery Center and west to Granada Avenue. View area 3 map.
The improvements include miscellaneous storm sewer/sanitary sewer/water main repairs and replacement, replacement of isolated sections of structurally damaged curb and gutter, repaving of the asphalt pavement section, installation of new street lighting, and some trail and walk improvements.
MN Paving is the contractor for this project. They have successfully completed many similar projects for the City. All project work is scheduled to be complete by early September.

Current and Planned Work Area 1
Shenandoah Valley neighborhood located east of I-694 and north of 50th Street- Sod is scheduled to be placed early next week and will take about 3 days to complete. Read sod care instructions.
- The final layer of asphalt is planned to be paved early the following week of Aug. 9. It will take about 2 days to complete.
Area 2 Commercial-industrial area east of I-694, north of 4th Street and south of 10th StreetEast of I-694- Restoration of the boulevards and irrigation repairs are being done now and sodding will then follow late next week and be completed early the following week of Aug. 9. Read sod care instructions.
- The Powerline Park trail re-alignment is scheduled to be constructed starting Aug. 8, and it will take approximately 1 week to prepare for pavement.
- The trail is scheduled to be paved early the week of Aug. 16.
West of I-694- The pavement has been reclaimed into gravel and is being shaped for pavement.
- The first layer of asphalt is planned to be paved on Monday Aug. 2.
Area 3Oakdale Park trail from Hadley Avenue to the Discovery Center and west to Granada Avenue- The trail will be closed from August 5 - 13, please plan accordingly to allow the contractor to get the required work done as efficiently as possible.
- The trail will be reclaimed into gravel the end of next week. (Aug. 5-6)
- Grading for pavement will be done early the following week of Aug. 9.
- Pavement is scheduled Thursday and Friday Aug. 12 and 13.
- Restoration of the edges of the trail will follow the completion of the pavement.
As construction progresses, please use caution traveling within the project area. Also, please do not park vehicles on the street from 7 am to 7 pm within the project area unless instructed to by the contractor to accommodate driveway work.
