Reserve a picnic shelter for your graduation party, shower, birthday, reunion, or other celebration! Call 651-747-3860 to check availability and make a reservation. Rental fees are due at the time of booking.

Oakdale Summerfest Community Celebration

June 24 and 25 | Walton Park

Come together for the annual Oakdale Summerfest Celebration! Put up your lawn chair and collect candy at the parade, dance to live music at the bandshell, feast at the food trucks, race in the 5K, bring the kiddos for youth activities, hunt for the medallion, and finish the event with a fireworks extravaganza!

Oakdale Nature Preserve Summerfest 5K

Saturday, June 25 | 7 AM Check-in, 8 AM Start Time | Discovery Center

Time to start gearing up for the annual Summerfest Oakdale 5K! This race is for runners and walkers of all abilities. The route starts and finishes at the Discovery Center. $25 per person. *T-shirt registration deadline is June 13. No t-shirt given to those registered after June 13. Day of registrations welcome.

Amped Up Entertainment

Select Thursdays | 10 AM | Discovery Center Amphitheater

Are you looking for free summer programs for your children, grandchildren or even yourself? Then the Discovery Center Amphitheater is the place to be! On select Thursday mornings, the amphitheater will play host to a variety of programs geared to all ages.  (In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved into the Discovery Center).

Summer Concert Series

Select Wednesdays | Concerts begin 7 PM | Walton Park
 
Bring your friends, family, and lawn chairs to Walton Park for a variety of concerts on Wednesday nights though the summer. You're sure to find a live performance that will fit your musical taste. Free.

Summer Outdoor Bingo

Sunday, June 19 | 1 to 3 PM | Discovery Center Picnic Shelter
All ages welcome! Join us for this fun-filled Sunday afternoon event, outside! We'll supply the treats while you shout out BINGO! Prizes are awarded to winners of every game. All participants will be eligible for the grand prize raffle drawing at the end of the event (must be present to win the raffle). Register before the deadline on June 13.

Campers play games, create arts and crafts, and participate in special events for each weekly theme.

ITs Truck

ITS Truck

Monday to Thursday | Rotating Schedule and Locations
 
This summer, the ITS (In The Street) Truck will find its way to a park near you, bringing along fun new games, a super sound system and Nintendo Wii gaming device! There’s a different theme each week, so come outside and join the Oakdale Recreation staff because you know ITS going to be a blast all summer long! No registration required! Free.

  • June 6 to 9: ITS Kick Off Week

  • June 20 to 23: Everything Jumbo
  • June 27 to 30: One Giant Sandbox

Pop Up Parks

Monday to Thursday | Rotating Schedule and Locations

Pop in this summer at one of our FREE Pop-Up Parks! Pop Up Parks is a program for kids to enjoy access to recreation programming in their own neighborhoods. Oakdale Recreation staff will be “popping” in to your neighborhood with games, activities, sports equipment, special events, arts and crafts, and more. Look for the Pop-Up Park flag! No registration required! Free.

KidCreate Studio: Fairy Garden (Ages 4 to 9)

Friday, June 17 | 9 AM to 12 PM | Discovery Center

I do believe in fairies, I do! We’ll use clay, paint, glitter, and more as we sculpt our very own enchanted fairy gardens. These adorable little fairy retreats will have sparkling streams, colorful flowers, a fairy swing, and more! You don’t want to miss this magical class. Please pack a nut free snack and drink for your child. Deadline to register is one week prior to class. $36.

Curious Critters Club (Ages 3 to 6)

Select Friday mornings | 9:30 to 11 AM | Discovery Center

Preschoolers discuss a nature topic, play themed games, watch videos and create crafts centered on the subject. Children enjoy a snack that is provided during the class. Please dress kids for the weather; Curious Critters like to go on adventures outside! Deadline to register is one week prior to class. $8 per class.

Library Storytime: Oceans

Wednesday, June 29 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center

A Washington County Youth Librarian will be visiting for a series of special preschool story times! We’ll have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow. A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups.

KidCreate Studio: Gem-Tastic (Ages 4 to 9)

Thursday and Friday, June 30 and July 1 | 9 AM to 12 PM | Discovery Center

We’re bringing out our best bling for these sparkling masterpieces! In this popular camp, you’ll create dazzling works of art, all covered in glittery GEMS! We’ll make clay cakes that sparkle and shine, along with a collage that glimmers and gleams. We’ll even make our very own gem-covered crown out of clay. Come get Gem-Tastic with us! Please pack a nut free snack and drink for your child each day. Deadline to register is one week prior to class. $75.

Farmers Market

Wednesdays, June 1 to October 12 | 2 – *6:30 PM | City Hall Parking Lot

Purchase locally grown products that promote healthy lifestyles, while sustaining local agriculture at the Oakdale Farmers Market. Pick up a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, a bouquet of flowers, a loaf of bread, dessert, and so much more! Check out the Community Booth to see what is happening locally, and enter your name for a chance to win the Vendors Variety Gift Basket. This is the vendors' way of saying thank you for supporting the community and local businesses. *Some vendors depart at 6 PM.

Discovery Center

Develop a strong and flexible spine, increase comfort and mobility in your joints, and build strength and balance in a safe way in this all-levels yoga class. Classes focus on each student's own internal experience rather than achieving an external appearance. Every class will include movement and guided breathing woven together. Most classes will have an element of meditation, chanting, and guided self-exploration. Classes are taught by Jennifer Brandt, Registered Yoga Teacher and Certified Yoga Therapist at Body and Mind Yoga Therapy www.bodyandmindyogatherapy.com.

Join local artist Sandy Danus of Cheerful Hearts Studio as she leads you through a fun and inviting, acrylic paint class. Learn a new skill and have a great time! All supplies are included and our cheerful, step by step instruction is easy to follow, even if you have never picked up a paint brush before. Come away with your own beautiful finished canvas creation that you can be proud of. Deadline to register is one week prior to class.

Forest Therapy Walks 

Saturdays, June 4 or 18 | 10 AM to 12 PM | Meet at Discovery Center Firepit
 
Forest Therapy, or “forest bathing,” is a research-based framework for supporting healing and wellness through immersion in forests and other natural environments. Studies have demonstrated a wide array of health benefits, especially in the cardiovascular and immune systems, and for stabilizing and improving mood and cognition. Forest therapy walks are slow-paced and are leisurely guided through nature by certified forest therapy guides. $20 per class (50% discount for frontline workers).

Caponi Art Park Logo

Experience Caponi Art Park

Thursday, June 30 | 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM | Departs from Gladstone Center, 1945 Manton Street, Maplewood

Now is your chance to break the number one museum rule of “don’t touch the art.”  Caponi Art Park, located in Eagan, is the setting for this unique opportunity to experience art with all of your senses. Your day will include two art workshops selected to teach you new skills while exploring the natural world. A walking tour reveals 16 of the 35 plus sculptures by Anthony Caponi, sculptor, former Macalester College art department chair, professor and park founder. Enjoy a box lunch under the park picnic shelter. Register before the deadline on June 16. $75.
