Site Work
The unusual warm and dry Minnesota spring has allowed considerable progress to be made preparing the site for the new Public Works facility.
The contractor working for 3M has completed clearing the site and is now excavating and removing soil. To visualize the effort underway, we estimate a football field area of soil more than four feet deep is being removed. This is a large project!
This work is continually inspected and evaluated to ensure it meets the approved Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) plan. When the work in an area is complete, crews will install seed and mulch to prevent erosion. Other work areas are watered as needed to minimize dust.
At the conclusion of this phase, 3M will donate the land to the City of Oakdale and the construction phase of the Public Works facility project will begin.
The photos below show work underway.
