Street Improvement Project Update

JUNE 20, 2024

Each summer, the City of Oakdale provides weekly construction updates on the annual Street Improvement Program projects. For more information on this year's projects, visit the City of Oakdale Engineering Projects webpage.

Construction has begun on this year’s Street Improvement Project. The contractor has split the project into four areas for coordination and scheduling.

- Area 1:  46th Street N, 47th Street N, 48th Street N and 49th Street N (From Hadley Avenue N to the East) Area 1 Map
- Area 2:  Hadley Avenue N from 40th Street N to 50th Street N Area 2 Map
- Area 3:  Oakdale Nature Preserve Trail Reconstruction Area 3 Map
- Area 4:  North Fire Station Parking Lot Reconstruction Area 4 Map

Improvements on Hadley Avenue N include miscellaneous storm sewer repairs, spot curb and gutter replacement, full asphalt replacement, street light replacement and bike trail reconstruction on the west side of Hadley Avenue N.

The improvements in the residential areas east of Hadley Avenue N include miscellaneous storm, sanitary and water main repairs, spot curb and gutter replacement, street light replacement and full asphalt pavement replacement.

Dresel Contracting is the contractor for this project. They have successfully completed many similar local projects. All project work is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.

Current and Planned Work

Area 1: 46th Street N, 47th Street N, 48th Street N and 49th Street N (From Hadley Avenue N to the East)
- The contractor plans to complete the second lift of asphalt in residential driveways today (Thursday, June 20).
- The initial base lift of asphalt should be completed today (Thursday, June 20) on 49th Street N. Vehicles will be able to drive on the new asphalt as soon as it is rolled (within 10 to 15 minutes of it being paved). There will be no on-street parking during the paving process. The 46th, 47th and 48th Street N areas had the first lift of asphalt paved yesterday (Wednesday, June 19).
- The contractor could potentially begin raising sanitary manholes and water main valve boxes mid-next week as weather and scheduling permits.

Area 2: Hadley Avenue N (40th Street N to 50th Street N)
- Spot utility repairs will continue into early next week. Please be mindful of additional traffic control and construction crews while driving through the area.
- Curb repair on the east side of Hadley Avenue N started last week but has been delayed this week due to rain. Concrete is planned for Monday, June 24 on the east side of Hadley Avenue N. Please be mindful of additional traffic control and temporary traffic lane shifts while driving through the area.
- Curb removal on the west side of Hadley Avenue N is planned for Monday, June 24.

Area 3: Oakdale Nature Preserve Trail Reconstruction
- Work is planned to start after July 8.

Area 4: North Fire Station Parking Lot Reconstruction
- The contractor plans on removing the back concrete pad and prepping it for new concrete on Monday, June 24.
- A new concrete pad adjacent to the west side of the building is planned to be poured on Tuesday, June 25.
- The rest of the asphalt and curb on the back side of the fire station will potentially be removed mid- to late-next week depending on scheduling and weather.

Reminders

As construction progresses, please use caution traveling within the project area. Also, please do not park vehicles on the street from 7 AM to 7 PM within the project area unless instructed to by the contractor to accommodate driveway work. This will help the contractor to work more efficiently and will create a safer work zone. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing patience and cooperation.
