Amped Up Entertainment | The Bazillions

Friday, October 11 | 7 PM | Discovery Center 

Join us for a special Amped Up Entertainment fall kids and family musical program with the Bazillions at the Discovery Center. Join us for a free and fun musical experience!

Pumpkin Carving Contest

Drop off your pumpkin during the Discovery Center’s open hours October 20 through 23 | Discovery Center

Calling all pumpkin carvers! The Pumpkin Carving Contest is open to families or individuals of all ages/skill levels. All entries must be family friendly. The pumpkins will be displayed at the Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt and attendees will vote for the winners. Prizes will be awarded to winners in each of three categories; Best, Spookiest, and Bumpkin Pumpkin (entry by ages 12 and under).

Junior Gardeners Teddy and Me

Sunday, October 20 | 2 to 3 PM | Discovery Center
 
Bring a favorite stuffed animal to create matching autumn leaf headbands with leaves participants can collect on the Nature Preserve trail. All supplies provided. Class taught by Washington County Master Gardeners. This program is free and advance registration is not required.

Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt

Thursday, October 24 | 7 to 8:30 PM | Discovery Center
 
Search for pumpkins under the stars in the Oakdale Nature Preserve! After the hunt enjoy chilling refreshments, family DJ, bonfire, spooky entertainment and ghoulish games. Costumes are optional; don’t forget your flashlight! All participants receive a glow necklace upon check-in! Deadline to register is October 17, or when full. $12 per child, parents attend free.

Librarian reads to kids

Library Story Time | Fall

Wednesday, October 30 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center
 
A Washington County Youth Librarian will be visiting for a special preschool story time! We’ll have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow. This is a free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups.

Farmers Market

Wednesdays, now through October 9 | 2 to 6 PM | City Hall Parking Lot

Purchase locally grown products that promote healthy lifestyles, while sustaining local agriculture at the Oakdale Farmers Market. Pick up a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, a bouquet of flowers, a loaf of bread, dessert, and so much more! Check out the Community Booth to see what is happening locally, and enter your name for a chance to win the Vendors Variety Gift Basket. This is the vendors' way of saying thank you for supporting the community and local businesses.

Recycling Food Scraps at Home

Wednesday, October 9 | 6 to 7 PM | Discovery Center

Join Washington County staff to learn tips for success and how to get started with the accessible Food Scraps Pickup Program that allows Oakdale households to collect food scraps in free bags and put them in their regular trash bin.

Adult Yoga

Oakdale welcomes Jen Vail, registered yoga teacher, trainer and certified Pilates instructor, to the Discovery Center! Jen was most recently the director and founder of YogaFresh in Woodbury, MN from 2007-2023. Her unique offerings have different focus areas and are accessible for all experience levels. She strives to create a non-judgmental, fun and safe environment to explore the benefits of yoga, barre and Pilates. Learn more at http://www.jenvail.com/. 

Registration deadline is prior to class/session start. Drop-in for a single class is $20 if space is available. Please arrive at least ten minutes prior to class when dropping in. 

Morning Yoga | Thursdays | 6 to 7 PM

Fall Session 2: November 12 to December 17 | 6 weeks | $99

Rise and shine with intention. Experience a customizable and dynamic yoga practice designed to build strength, develop balance, and increase mobility and mindfulness. This all-levels class encourages participants to move at their own pace to explore shapes in a safe and sustainable way that will support a healthy range of motion and a more fulfilling practice experience.

Twilight Yoga | Thursdays | 6 to 7 PM

Fall Session 2: November 7 to December 12 (no class November 28) | 5 weeks | $85

Wind down your day with a gentle flow to melt away stress in the glow of twinkling lights. This all-levels class will illuminate your intention and calm the nervous system with flowing movements designed to improve balance, strength and flexibility in a sustainable way. Enjoy the outdoors in the comfort of being indoors and without bugs, humidity and sand.

Pop-Up Full Body Foam Rolling: A Self-Healing Workshop | Sunday, November 17 | 10:30 to 11:45 AM 
$30

Feel better faster and take the next step in your wellness journey with foam rolling to alleviate tension, reduce pain, promote recovery and improve mobility. This all-levels workshop uses self-myofascial techniques and a foam roller to melt away stress and reduce muscle soreness in chronically tight areas of the body. Space is limited and pre-registration is required to attend. Please bring with you a yoga mat and we will provide foam rollers to use during the workshop.

Painting Class | Pumpkin and Roses

Friday, November 1 | 11 AM to 2 PM | Discovery Center

Join local artist Sandy Danus of Cheerful Hearts Studio as she leads you through a fun and inviting, acrylic paint class. Learn a new skill and have a great time! All supplies are included and our cheerful, step by step instruction is easy to follow, even if you have never picked up a paint brush before. Come away with your own beautiful finished canvas creation that you can be proud of. Deadline to register is October 28. $30 (12-by-12 canvas).

Mandala Rock Painting

Wednesday, November 13 | 6 to 8 PM | Discovery Center

Come find peace and relaxation while creating an intricate and original Mandala Rock with Dot-a-Doodle Art. Your choice of a rock or holiday ornament. Deadline to register is November 7. $30 per person.

Oakdale Wellness 50+

Oakdale Wellness 50+ is a volunteer initiative making Oakdale and Washington County healthier by offering health-focused activities for persons 50 and over that lead to measurably improved wellness. 

Oakdale Wellness 50+ is supported by Washington County, the City of Oakdale, and the Vital Aging Network (VAN).

Walks at the Oakdale Nature Preserve | Wednesdays at 9 AM  
No registration is necessary to join these weekly walks. Meet in front of the Discovery Center. 

Play Mahjongg | Mondays at 1 PM 
Join us to play Mahjongg. No sign up needed.

Tree Trek in the Nature Preserve | Thursday, October 10 | 2 PM | Discovery Center 
Take a guided walk with Oakdale Tree Board members. Meet in front of Discovery Center. No sign up needed.

Red Cross Blood Drive | Friday, October 18 | 9 AM to 3 PM | Discovery Center
