Select Thursdays | 10 to 11 AM | Discovery Center Amphitheater

Swing around to the Discovery Center’s backyard amphitheater for free programs for all ages. Program will be held indoors in the event of inclement weather.

Pop-Up Waterslide

Friday, August 8 | 1 to 2:30 PM | Tower Park

Discover Oakdale’s very “cool” and popular water slide! Grab a towel, pack a lunch, and spend the afternoon cooling off at our water slide at Tower Park, located at 8th Street and Guthrie Avenue. All kids need to be accompanied by an adult. Ice cream available for purchase.

Wednesdays, now to October 8 | 2 to 6 PM | Oakdale City Hall Parking Lot

Shop fresh and local at the Oakdale Farmers Market for an array of fresh produce, sweets, meats and more from local vendors on Wednesdays throughout the summer. Food trucks also attend regularly.

Select Wednesdays | Walton Park

Bring your friends, family, and lawn chairs to Walton Park for a variety of concerts on Wednesday nights though the summer. You're sure to find a live performance that will fit your musical taste. Free.

Friday, August 15 | Movie Starts at Dusk | Walton Park

Round up the kids, some lawn chairs or a blanket, and enjoy a night under the stars as your favorite movie plays on the big screen at the band shell. 

Sponsored by the Oakdale Police and Recreation Departments. Concessions provided by Maplewood Oakdale Lions Club.

Child explores truck bed with cherry picker

Touch A Truck

Thursday, August 21 | 5 to 7 PM | City Hall Parking Lot

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to get up close with dozens of big vehicles including emergency and public safety vehicles, snow plows, garbage trucks, street cleaners, semi-trucks and more. Free ice cream treats will be provided. The Maplewood Oakdale Lions Club will provide free water and snacks. A sensory tent will provide a safe, non-stimulating space for children. Sensory friendly event; no loud noises, lights, sirens, etc.

ITS Truck

In the Streets: ITS Truck

The ITS Truck will be in the streets and at a park near you this summer! The ITS Truck will operate Monday to Thursday with two stops per day. These drop-in recreation programs are FREE, and no registration is needed. Check out the new schedule for 2025! 

Storyteller reads to families outside

Outdoor Story Time and Craft

Tuesday, August 12 | 10:30 to 11:30 AM | Discovery Center Amphitheater

Join storyteller April from PaperPie for a story and craft while enjoying the outdoors in the Nature Preserve. This free program is recommended for kids 10 and under with no registration required. Programs held inside in the event of inclement weather. Books will be available for purchase to encourage continued summer reading for kids.

Eder School

One Room Schoolhouse Camp (Grades 1 to 5)

August 18 to 21 | 9 AM to 4 PM | Eder Schoolhouse, 4442 Hadley Avenue N

Experience life in the 1888 Eder Schoolhouse! Learn about history, practice old-fashioned skills, and enjoy recess time and old-fashioned games. Running water and modern restrooms available in the Discovery Center. Bring your own lunch. Morning and afternoon snacks provided, so please note any food allergies. Camp in partnership with the Maplewood Area Historical Society. $290 per student. Registration is full; waiting list is open.

Adults help children fish on the fishing pier

DNR Fishing in the Neighborhood: Family Fishing Clinic (Ages 5+)

Wednesday, August 20 | 5 to 7 PM | Tanners Lake Fishing Pier, Tanners Park Road

Join the Minnesota DNR’s Fishing in the Neighborhood (FiN) program for fishing at Tanners Lake. Designed for ages five and up. Each kid must be accompanied by an adult. No experience or equipment is needed. Rain or shine, come dressed for the weather. Registration is full; waiting list is open. Limited to 10 kids (with 10 adults).

"Vehicles" Library Story Time

Wednesday, August 27 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center

We’ll have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together with a Washington County Youth Librarian. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow.

A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups.

ACTIVITIES FOR ADULTS

Zumba in the Park

Tuesdays, September 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 | 6:30 to 7:30 PM | Eder Schoolhouse Lawn

“Zumba with Sadie” is a dynamic, full-body dance workout designed for people of all fitness levels to get out and move their bodies. Dance to music from around the globe including Latin, Caribbean, SoCa, African, Salsa, Bollywood, Calypso, Hip Hop and Pop! Sadie is a licensed group fitness instructor and can sign off on participation for employer heath incentive and wellness programs. 5 week session is $55 per person. Rainout sessions will be made up the next day on Wednesdays.  Registration deadline one week prior to session start.

Oakdale Wellness 50+

Oakdale Wellness 50+ is a volunteer initiative making Oakdale and Washington County healthier by offering health-focused activities for persons 50 and over that lead to measurably improved wellness. 

Oakdale Wellness 50+ is supported by Washington County, the City of Oakdale, and the Vital Aging Network (VAN).

WALKS AT THE OAKDALE NATURE PRESERVE | Wednesdays at 9 AM | No registration is necessary to join these weekly walks. Meet in front of the Discovery Center.
