Construction has begun on this year’s Mill and Overlay Project. The project area is Hadley Avenue N from 10th Street N to Hallmark Avenue N.
General Work Schedule
During the first two to four weeks, the contractor plans the following work:
- Install temporary construction signing and erosion control devices.
- Remove and replace the existing bike trail pavement.
- Remove and replace isolated sections of damaged concrete curb and gutter.
- Repair some storm sewer catch basins and water valve boxes.
- Restore disturbed boulevard areas.
- Replace street lights with decorative aluminum poles and LED fixtures.
During the last one to two weeks, the contractor plans the following work:
- Mill off the top layer of asphalt pavement.
- Repave the top layer of asphalt pavement.
- Restripe the roadway about three days after paving.
Current and Planned Work
- Water main valves scheduled for replacement were completed on Wednesday, September 3.
- Damaged or non-functional curb along Hadley Avenue N in the first phase is currently being removed.
- All the removed curb will be replaced with new curb and gutter starting on Thursday, September 4 and Friday, September 5.
- Asphalt patching in front of all newly poured curb will take place Saturday, September 6.
- All traffic controls will be switched over on Monday, September 8 to begin the next phase.
- Removals of any damaged curb and concrete in the next phase will take place on Monday, September 8 and Tuesday, September 9.
As construction progresses, please remember to drive carefully and use caution when driving through the work area. Keep children a safe distance from the equipment and construction activity. We appreciate your cooperation and patience during this work.
