Ice Skating Rinks are open weather permitting and close the end of February. Supervised rinks with warming houses are located at Northdale Park Hockey Rink and Walton Park Hockey Rink & Pleasure Rink. Complimentary hot chocolate and ice scooters available at the Walton Park Pleasure Rink. There is also an unsupervised lighted rink without warming house at Eastside Park.

Best Snow Sculpture of Oakdale Contest Calling all creative Oakdale families! Do you have what it takes to create the best snow sculpture in the city? Head outside any time after a snowfall and create your masterpiece! All sculptures are judged on appearance, relative to this season's theme: "Summer at the Beach." Winning sculpture receives a $100 Marcus Theaters gift card! Submit photo entries by March 30. Winner will be contacted by April 2.

Snowshoe RentalDiscovery Center
Take your family and friends snowshoeing in the 220 acre Oakdale Nature Preserve. Sizes available for both children and adult. Rentals available at these times (pending snow conditions): Monday - Friday: 9AM to 4PM, Saturdays: 12 to 4PM, Sundays: 1 to 4PM. $5/person for 2 hour rental.

Family Full Moon SnowshoeSaturday, Jan. 27 | 6PM - 7:30PM | Discovery Center
Join us at the Oakdale Nature Preserve to enjoy the trails at night with the full moon and stars overhead. We’ll have one trail lit with ice luminaries to follow through the woods, but you can enjoy the whole park. Gather by the bonfire for hot chocolate and s’mores afterward. Fee includes snowshoes, but you can also bring your own. Just let us know when you register whether you will need snowshoes, so we can save you a pair. Bring a headlamp and dress in layers with sturdy boots. Register by Jan. 19! $15/person or $50/family of 4. MORE INFORMATION

Line dance is a great way to stay healthy and active while having fun. Kim Ustruck is returning to lead a line dance session where everyone is welcome to join in. Fun for both experienced line dancers and those that just want to give it a try! Please wear supportive shoes and clothes that allow you to move freely. Senior fitness evaluations will take place before the line dance demo, and healthy snacks will be served as well. Please join us, this event is a great way to connect with others and meet new people! Road Trip "Capitol Tour and Conservatory"Tuesday, Jan. 23 | 10:15AM - 4:15PM | Departs from Walton Park Bandshell Parking Lot
As proud Minnesotans, we're off to St. Paul for a guided tour of the Minnesota State Capitol building to see this magnificent 1905 masterpiece returned to its original grandeur. During a 45 minute guided walking tour, you will hear stories about the Capitol's history, art, architecture, and state government and see the recent restorations. After the tour, lunch is at Augustine's Bar and Bakery. Then, escape from the snow and winds of a Minnesota winter at the 2018 Annual Winter Flower Show at the Como Park Marjorie McNeely Conservatory to meander through the conservatory at your own pace.
