Rental Housing License

The City issues licenses for all rental property in Oakdale. 

As of November 28, 2022, rental housing licenses are now being done via an online permitting process. Visit our online permitting page to set up your account and begin the licensing process.

Anyone who comes to City Hall to complete a rental housing license will be asked to create an online account to begin the license process. A computer is available for use at the permitting counter. 

Licensing Process and Fees

Once a completed license application has been received by City staff, the application will be reviewed. You will then receive an email to complete the payment process before scheduling an inspection and receiving the license. Please refer to page 2 of the City's fee schedule for associated licensing fees.

License Term

The license term runs from January 1 to December 31.

The 2012 International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) has been adopted as the housing standard the city uses to inspect all residential and commercial property; copies are available for viewing at City Hall.
